I just completed this logo for a friend who wants to open a cantina here in Central Florida. It's still in the early planning stages so we'll see where it goes. I used a southwestern color scheme and then placed an amber shape in the "U" of cactus to represent beer. He really liked the loose, flat style of illustrations I've done for other projects so I applied that style here to the typographic solution I designed for his logo. This project was done with a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Indesign.

I created this poster as a submission for the 2010 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Having attended the festival in the past, I feel this image really captures the essence of the event. As expected, I began with a series of sketches and color studies before completing the final drawing which I scanned and finished in Photoshop. The typography was all handcrafted to match the spirit of the festival.
Letters For Change
1 of 20, full-page illustrations that were recently commissioned by McGraw Hill in New York for a middle school history book called "Letters For Change". As usual I began with a large series of thumbnail sketches and color studies. The final digital files were created with paths and layers in Photoshop for a cut-paper look.

Folk Festival Poster
This is a poster I created for the National Folk Festival held annually in Richmond Virginia. I started with a few dozen thumbnail sketches and a series of color studies. Once I decided on the concept, layout and typographical solutions, I continued on to the final file which was completed digitally in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. The finished 300 MB file is 18" x 24" at 300 dpi in CYMK.
Cupcake spread
I created this magazine spread around a series of illustrations I painted traditionally in acrylic on board. I used photographs of myself baking cupcakes as reference for these pieces. I scanned the originals and then brought them into my InDesign layout. I really love combining traditional painting techniques with Digital Art & Design projects.
What's Cookin' at The Palm?
My brother is the Executive Souse Chef at The Palm Restaurant in Orlando, Florida. I created this magazine layout around an oil on canvas illustration I did as a gift for him. I scanned the painting and brought it into the magazine layout I created in Adobe InDesign. I especially like the way elements of the illustration interact with the layout and typography.
The Rum Diary
Summer nights
Summer days, summer nights began with an acrylic painting I did on my front porch during a balmy summer evening in Florida. The grill was going, my boyfriend was playing blues guitar and a warm breeze blew from the Gulf of Mexico. I was inspired by the finished painting to create a mock magazine spread on summer music. I wanted to keep the layout simple, clean and inviting. The headline, Summer days, summer nights came to me from a Bob Dylan lyric.
Tart!
I've always wanted to write, illustrate and design a cookbook. I created this small series of tart illustrations with that end in mind. These were created completely digitally in Adobe Photoshop using a combination of layers and paths. I used original photography as reference. My plan now is to bring them into a layout for a cookbook.
KidsGuide
Here is a cover I designed and illustrated for KidsGuide Magazine which was published in Los Angeles, California. It ran regionally across the southwest. All I was given was the cover story title which was "Return of the Action Summer". My concept was to have a girl on a sailboat with "fish items" jumping in front of the boat representing fun things kids can do during the summer months. The masthead or title remains the same from month-to-month but the rest of the typography and layout is mine. This was done with a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.
Alphabets!
Here are 3 out of 26 alphabet cards I created for self promotional purposes. I began my process by brainstorming alliterations for each letter of the alphabet. The resulting alliterations formed the basis of my designs and illustrations. The next step was a serious of thumbnail sketches and value studies for each of the alphabet cards. The final high-res Photoshop illustration files were brought into InDesign for typography and offset printing.
